Welcome to Special Collections and Archives Hutchins Library’s Special Collections and Archives supports the educational mission of Berea College and the wider world of scholarship by:
- Building and maintaining an extensive collection of primary source materials documenting the history of Berea College, the Southern Appalachian region, and the Berea community
- Providing access to archival and published materials in the Special Collections and Archives Reading Room
- Providing 24/7 online access to digitized collections and digital exhibitions of SCA materials
- Helping classes and individuals discover and use manuscripts, historical records, rare books, images, and recordings
- Working with faculty to help develop hands-on activities involving SCA materials, and
- Supporting the professional development of faculty and staff by providing occasional workshops
